Join us for a special evening in celebration of Karl Marx’s bicentenary with Neil Faulkner - author of A Marxist History of the World. Neil will be exploring the intricacies of Marx’s life in London in a fascinating talk that will reveal why Karl Marx is now considered one of the greatest philosophers of all time.

Karl Marx was an economist, sociologist and philosopher who has been described as one of the most influential figures in human history. Having been expelled from his native Germany as well as France and Belgium for his revolutionary political beliefs, Marx arrived in London at the age of 31. He was to live here the remaining three decades of his life and he wrote his most famous work, Das Kapital, in the British Library. A blue plaque now stands at his former residence at 28 Dean Street to commemorates his life in the capital.

Neil Faulkner is a British archaeologist, historian, writer, lecturer, broadcaster, and political activist. His books include The Decline and Fall of Roman Britain, Apocalypse: The Great Jewish Revolt Against Rome, Rome: Empire of the Eagles, A Visitor’s Guide to the Ancient Olympics, A Marxist History of the World: From Neanderthals to Neoliberals, and Digging Sedgeford: A People's Archaeology. His latest book is Lawrence of Arabia's War.
